In December, 300 employees of ZeniMax’s QA department expressed their willingness to form a union, and on January 3, they voted in favor of the decision, which was approved by Microsoft, ZeniMax’s current parent company.
It’s now the largest union in the gaming industry. The company’s employees took this step after the positive example of their colleagues from Raven Software and Blizzard Albany. They also work with the Communication Workers of America.
Oddly enough, none of the ZeniMax employees had any problems, unlike their colleagues at Raven Software and Blizzard Albany. Their decision was challenged in court by Activision, but nothing came of it.
ZeniMax QA engineers are involved in the testing of games by Arkane, Id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Tango Gameworks, MachineGames and Bethesda. Now they’ll be able to fight for their rights.
