Last week, the miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin was released, about events that took place long before Geralt’s adventures. Early reviews from critics indicated that the show was a hit, and ratings from ordinary users only confirmed it.
The Witcher prequel currently has a 38% fresh rating and 8% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. This is the worst Netflix score in history. Even the failed TV adaptation of Resident Evil (2022) is recommended by 26% of viewers.
Metacritic is a little bit better, at least among journalists. The series received 47/100 from critics and 1.2 points from viewers.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is being scolded for almost everything from the terrible special effects and acting (except for Michelle Yeoh) to the boring plot and weak dialogue.
