Epic Games announced the shutdown of online services and servers for a number of its legacy games as part of a complete transition to supporting Epic Online Services with a unified friends system, voice chat features, and parental controls.
The first three Rock Band games will be shut down on January 24, along with servers for Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament 3 and many others.
Most of the games included in this list will continue to remain available offline, but not all. The following projects will be playable offline after the servers are shut down:.
- 1000 Tiny Claws.
- Dance Central 1-3.
- Green Day: Rock Band.
- Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess.
- Rock Band 1-3.
- The Beatles: Rock Band.
- Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars.
- Unreal Gold.
- Unreal 2: The Awakening.
- Unreal Tournament 2003.
- Unreal Tournament 2004.
- Unreal Tournament 3.
- Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition.
Starting today, Epic Games will also begin removing closing games and associated DLC from stores and shutting down in-game purchases.
In addition, the company announced that it plans to later update the PC version of Unreal Tournament 3 to Unreal Tournament 3 X using Epic Online Services. The game will be ported to a free-to-play model and will receive crossplay between Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.
The developers promise a full-fledged shooter with a single-player campaign and multiplayer without microtransactions and any other conventions.
