Mortal Kombat 12 will be released in 2023, according to NetherRealm Studios creative director Edward Boone.

NetherRealm Studios creative director Edward Boone stated that they are not going to present their new game, which is supposed to be Mortal Kombat 12, at the show. Fans were upset by this announcement, but now it has become known that the developers will not delay the announcement and release of the new project.

The director of NetherRealm Studios revealed that the new game will be released in 2023. The announcement “may” take place within the next 6 months. He also revealed that they plan to support this game longer than any of their previous releases (the current record is held by Mortal Kombat 11).

As for details about NetherRealm Studios’ next game, previously Edward Boone had revealed that it would be either Injustice 3 or Mortal Kombat 12. It’s likely to be the last, as the studio’s creative director is only talking about it and has already confirmed that it will feature characters from the Mortal Kombat 3D era.
