It seems that Kratos from God of War already exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At least that’s what the special edition of Guardians of the Galaxy is hinting at.
God of War is one of the largest game franchises, largely gaining new popularity after a soft reboot. The 2018 project was a major shake-up, as it focused more on giving Kratos depth. The latest game in the series, God of War Ragnarok, has already become the fastest-selling PlayStation game of all time.
God of War has gained such a reputation that it has gained recognition in the MCU. A special holiday issue of Guardians of the Galaxy, which was recently released on Disney+, mentioned the title of the game series. After Drax and Mantis land on Earth, they walk down the Hollywood Walk of Fame and see a group of people dressed as Avengers. The family rushes over to take a picture with the couple, thinking they are cosplayers too, and the woman says, “I have a picture with the God of War!”.
Of course, they don’t name Kratos, but Drax is very similar in design, considering he’s bald, muscular and covered in scars and bruises. It is also worth noting that Drax’s Dave Batista has expressed interest in playing Kratos in the God of War film adaptation.
