The first games with new pricing will be Forza Motorsport, Redfall and Starfield.
In 2023, Microsoft’s gaming division will raise prices on new games developed by internal studios for Xbox Series consoles. Instead of $59.99, these games will be sold for $69.99.
The reason for the price increase is the complexity of developing and creating content for such games. New in-house projects will still appear in the Game Pass subscription at the same time as the release.
The first Microsoft games to sell for $69.99 will be Redfall, Starfield and Forza Motorsport.
After the launch of the new generation of consoles, many major publishers – such as Ubisoft, Take-Two, and Sony itself – raised the price of the next-gen versions of their games to $69.99.
Microsoft has kept prices at the same level; however, in recent years the company’s internal studios have released a very small number of games. Microsoft expects to see significantly more releases from internal studios in 2023.
