Microsoft may be exploring the possibility of launching a low-cost Xbox Game Pass subscription with ads.

This is indicated by a screenshot published from a survey that was recently sent to some Xbox users asking how they feel about the additional tier of Xbox Game Pass.

The company is wondering if users would be interested in the Xbox Game Pass plan, which costs just $3 a month, but has some restrictions.

For a lower subscription cost, users could have access to multiplayer and a library of games limited to Xbox Game Studios titles, with access to new releases not immediately on the day of release, but only six months after release. Even when playing through a cheap subscription, players would be shown ads before the games launched.

Interestingly, Microsoft also recently filed a patent application for technology that embeds personalized advertising into games based on user privacy and interests.

It is worth bearing in mind that neither surveys nor patents guarantee that the information they provide will be implemented.
