Japanese company Capcom has shut down fan remakes of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X. According to the developers of the unofficial versions, this was done due to the use of the Resident Evil name, Capcom characters and other data.
Some users suggested that the company didn’t like the donation drive, but the fan-made remake creators said that’s not the case.
This isn’t the first time this has happened, but it’s unusual that Capcom has asked for the game to be removed shortly before the remake is released.
Also, according to the source, one of the reasons could be plans to create an official remake of Code: Veronica, although earlier the producer of Resident Evil 4 Remake denied this information.
