The Japanese division of Cartoon Network has started to produce an animated mini-series about Tom and Jerry. The project is unusual in that while the original Tom and Jerry cartoon shows people trying to kill each other, the Japanese version ends peacefully.

According to SoraNews24, this is the first Japanese adaptation of the Tom and Jerry series. It seems that the characters have been rejuvenated: Tom looks and acts like a kitten, and Jerry is a mouse (but not quite small).

According to the producers, the show will feature no-nonsense brawls and cavity. And judging by the first two episodes, that’s what it is: At the end of each episode, Tom and Jerry get along and make up.

Apparently, the anime version of Tom and Jerry will only get one season. There are no plans to release the project outside of Japan.
