AMD’s senior engineer for graphics research is working on adding path tracing technology to Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Since the last demo, the modification has been updated to support upscale technology.

Dihara Wijetunga, AMD’s senior engineer for graphics research, is working on adding path tracing technology to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, a first-person shooter from Gray Matter Interactive. Path tracing is a more realistic form of ray tracing.

Recently, Widgetunga revealed that over the weekend, he had extended the modification with upskilling technology, adding support for FSR 2, DLSS 2 and XeSS.

As for the release date, the engineer hopes to release “something” by the end of next year. He’s working on the mod alone, so it’s not moving very fast.
