Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is estimated to have sold over 14 million copies, improving sales amid a decline in consumer interest in Grand Theft Auto V. This is the conclusion drawn from a report recently published by Take-Two.
According to the publisher’s second quarter data from the investor presentation, the total sales of the GTA franchise as of September 31 exceeded 385 million units, while sales of GTA V reached 170 million copies.
In its August first-quarter report, T2 noted that GTA V sales were approaching 170 million, meaning that the company was able to sell just under a million copies in the following quarter, while the game has been steadily selling 5 million copies over the past five quarters.
The total circulation of all games in the series at that time was 380 million copies. It’s estimated that the franchise has made about 4 million more copies of the GTA trilogy of remasters.
Take-Two did not disclose the exact sales of the collection, but the same method previously managed to find out that for the starting quarter (from November 2021 to January 2022), the collection sold approximately 10 million copies. After that, sales slowed, but now they’re back up.
It should be noted that the reported figure of +5 million copies per quarter for the GTA circulation may also include sales of older parts of the series, but their share in the total volume was probably not very large due to the age of these games.
