Atari has released a new financial report. It was revealed that the Atari VCS retro console would be discontinued.
According to the document, for 2022-2023 (from March 31 to September 30) there was a decrease in revenue from the sale of consoles by 92% compared to the same period last year from 2.3 million euros to only 0.2 million euros.
So the company decided to revamp its business strategy. The first step in this direction will be to suspend production of the Atari VCS from 2023.
The Atari VCS retro console went on sale in June of last year. At launch, players gained access to Missile Command: Recharged, as well as an Atari Vault subscription, which includes over 100 of the company’s classic titles. It works with most modern operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS.
