The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is already in production, and the first photos from the shoot are starting to leak.
The footage shows what is clearly an Elvish town, with some magnificent design work, including a stunning chapel in the central square. The level of production already gives the impression that Amazon Studios is again investing a sizable budget in adapting The Lord of the Rings.
The location of the Ring of Power has been revealed. It’s in Eregion, an Elven kingdom that’s located near the western gate of Khazad-Dûm. The capital of Ost-in-Edhill was seen (but not named) in the first season finale.
It was from Eregion that Sauron launched his first major offensive, known as the Siege of Eregion. This began the conflict known as the Elven-Sauron War, and led to the destruction of Eregion and the rise of the Elves to new kingdoms such as Rivendell.
The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is set to premiere in 2024.
