Mortal Kombat series executive Ed Boone revealed the character of his dreams as a guest DLC.

Mortal Kombat series longtime executive Ed Boone revealed the character of his dreams as a guest DLC.

The characters in the add-ons are a tradition of the Mortal Kombat series. Sometimes these fighters are just Mortal Kombat characters that were not listed in the original game, but sometimes they are characters from other franchises. In Mortal Kombat 11, it was characters like the Terminator and Robocop.

Boone said he and his team plan to include guest characters in the future, though as expected, licensing issues sometimes get in the way. And he has one character he’d like to include in his new project.

Although Mortal Kombat is now the most popular fighting game series, it wasn’t always. For a long time, Street Fighter dominated the genre. And because of this dominance, Ryu, the face of the show, has become a cult character. So it’s no surprise that Boone is so desperate to get a character in Mortal Kombat.

If Boone wants Ryu in Mortal Kombat, what’s to stop that from happening? Well, the problem seems to be with Capcom. Including Ryu seems unlikely, given that Capcom is preparing Street Fighter 6. What’s probably even more of a problem is the Mortal Kombat adult rating.

The new MK is expected to be announced in 2023.
