Mortal Kombat boss Ed Boone gave new hope to fans of 2011’s Mortal Kombat, which is more commonly referred to as Mortal Kombat 9.
In recent years, the franchise has experienced a massive revival thanks to successful games such as Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11. The modern era of the series was rebooted by Mortal Kombat 9, but unfortunately, it is not available on all modern platforms, which many fans complain about. Fortunately, that can be fixed soon.
On Twitter, Boone told a fan that NetherRealm Studios was “exploring” the possibility of making the game available through backwards compatibility. While some modern platforms are capable of playing the original MK9 version, this is not the case for all consoles.
The only platforms that Mortal Kombat 9 is not available on are PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Since MK9 was a PlayStation 3 game, Sony’s subsequent consoles did not include backwards compatibility with the PS3. However, in the case of Xbox and PC, Mortal Kombat 9 is still easy to play.
Mortal Kombat 9 may be added to the PlayStation Plus Premium catalog.
