Dwarf Fortress has been in development for 20 years.

The Dwarf Fortress construction simulator has become the most successful game on Steam in the past week in terms of revenue.

The project, which has been in development for 20 years, was released on the Valve platform on December 6. It immediately became a sales hit, selling 160,000 copies in the first 24 hours. The online game has reached a peak of 27,000 concurrent users since its launch.

The lead in the overall chart continues to be held by Steam Deck. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II remained in third place, while Warhammer 40,000: Darktide dropped to fourth.

Other top-ranked games of the week included space strategy with management and survival elements IXION, which came in fifth, and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, which debuted on Steam at number six.
