Developer Matthias Linda has finally released Chained Echoes, the role-playing game he’s been working on alone for the past six years.
The game was released on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, receiving rave reviews from the few members of the press who paid attention to it.
- God is a Geek — 10/10.
- Gaming Nexus — 9/10.
- The Outerhaven Productions — 9/10.
- Noisy Pixel — 9,5/10.
- Hobby Consolas — 8,9/10.
- TechRaptor — 8,5/10.
Most reviewers agree that Chained Echoes represents an incredible dose of nostalgia for those who grew up on role-playing games for the SNES and SEGA Genesis platforms. Reviewers note that the game carries the spirit of the era, while not sliding into a literal repetition of old RPGs along with their obvious shortcomings.
The author of God is a Geek argues that all role-playing game fans should urgently put Chained Echoes in the first place in their backlog. According to the reviewer, Matthias’ creation is the best RPG of 2022.
At the time of this writing, the game has only been released for a few hours, and on Steam it has only 26 customer reviews. But there’s no negative ones yet.
Along with the release of the project, Deck13 released a trailer to coincide with the launch of Chained Echoes.
