James Gunn tweeted a hint as to what the first project in the rebooted DC Universe would be.

In recent years, the DC Universe has seen a number of films with mixed reactions. David Eyre’s Suicide Squad (2016) comes to mind as a box office success but a disappointment to audiences.

James Gunn, who has enjoyed a successful run since Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), is now in charge of the franchise. He recently tweeted a hint as to what the first project in the rebooted DC Universe would be.

Apparently, it’s Blue Beetle, which will be released in theaters on August 18, 2023.

This is indicated by a new promo that describes “The Blue Beetle” as “just the beginning”. It seems that the project could become part of the already relaunched DC cinematic universe.

Supporting this theory is James Gunn’s personal confirmation that the comic book has not been cancelled.

We will likely learn details of the franchise’s future in the near future announcements are expected in January 2023.
