Blizzard will make changes to the Diablo formula by introducing an open world for Diablo 4, providing nonlinearity. However, according to general manager Rod Ferguson, this does not mean that the game will be similar to Breath of the Wild.
Speaking to IGN, Rod explained that the structure of Diablo 4 is not like Zelda. And for all the nonlinearity, the game will have a story, because the developers wanted the game to have a beginning, a middle and an end.
However, if there is a desire, players can ignore the story for a while. It’s one of the perks of having an open world where you can travel and fight before you get to the story.
In addition, Diablo 4 will have a variety of side quests and activities that are not found during the linear plot.
According to the latest rumors, many details of Diablo 4 will be announced on December 8 at TGA 2022, when pre-orders will also be open. And the release is supposed to be in April.
