Diablo IV will feature AI-controlled companions, but the player assistance system will be revised.

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Diablo IV will feature companions, but the player assistance system will be revised. How exactly the mechanics work in the next part of the famous role-playing game is not specified. However, it is now known that AI-controlled assistants will join the hero as the campaign progresses.

In Diablo II, players hired companions to fight alongside the hero until they were killed. In Diablo III, the system was changed, and as the campaign progressed, three helpers of different classes appeared.

According to senior classroom designer Adam Jackson, Diablo IV will feature certain locations where NPC companions can be found, following the character and helping to fight the minions Lilith.

More information is likely to be released in the future, but for now, Blizzard Entertainment recommends staying in touch. Diablo IV will be released on PC and modern consoles on June 6, 2023.
