“Avatar 2” has crossed the $881 million mark at the worldwide box office.

Avatar: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader opened just ten days ago, but it’s already become one of the biggest box office hits of the year.

The latest figures released by the BBC say that the sequel to James Cameron’s sci-fi epic has crossed the $881 million mark at the worldwide box office and is set to reach $900 million by the end of Monday.

According to box office estimates, “Avatar 2” earned over $168.6 million overseas over the Christmas weekend, bringing its total outside of its domestic run to $601.7 million. The biggest contributors to the film’s success at the international box office were China, South Korea, France, India, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Italy.

The film also topped the domestic box office during the holiday weekend, earning at least $90 million in four days (from Friday to Monday), but could have done better had it not been for the worsening weather conditions in many key areas of the North American region.

However, with such numbers, “Water Route” has already far surpassed “Black Panther 2” and occupied the fifth place among the highest-grossing films of 2022.

The reviews are good, too. On Rotten Tomatoes, Avatar: The Path of Water currently has a 78% fresh rating from critics and a 93% fresh rating from viewers.
