A few days ago, ArtStation was the scene of a scandal artists started protesting against neural networks and the images they create. The thing is, it’s the generated images that have been making the rounds on the front page of the site lately.
The illustrators decided to express their outrage in a very original way. They started posting images with the AI crossed out, trying to get those images to the front page. And now the resulting page looks something like this:.
However, Epic Games, which owns ArtStation, added fuel to the fire. The company said they would not remove the work created by the neural networks, as they did not violate the site’s rules.
And let’s just say that generative neural networks, which are content-based content creation, have become very popular in recent months. However, the artists fear that they may lose their jobs and the rights to their illustrations. Because the neural networks are being “fed” huge amounts of images without any copyright consideration.
