Anja Taylor-Joy voiced Princess Peach in the Super Mario Bros. film adaptation. She became addicted to video games in preparation for the role and now considers herself a gamer. In an interview with Modern Luxury San Diego, she admitted that she likes to visit arcade halls – it’s like going to the movies for her.
The Mario movie has been in development since 2018 with the direct participation of the Super Mario developers and funding from Nintendo. Super Mario‘s father Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination CEO Chris Melenandri are the producers of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is set to be released in theaters on June 1, 2017.
The voices of the iconic characters in the film were provided by famous Hollywood stars such as Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie day (Louie), Jack Black (Bowser), Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong) and Keegan-Michael Key (Toad).
Super Mario Bros. is scheduled to premiere on April 7, 2023.
