20th Century Studios has finally released the long-awaited sequel to Avatar. Avatar: The Water Way has been a critical and commercial success, performing well at the box office.
Waterways has officially earned nearly half a billion dollars and is expected to approach 2 billion dollars. The film features a return of the star cast, including Sigourney Weaver, whose character was killed off in the original. However, her new character has some similarities to Jesus.
During a recent interview with Variety, the film’s writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver broke the silence about the mystery of Weaver’s new character.
I don’t think we’ve ever talked about her specifically as Jesus na’vi. But it’s a mystery. We can’t talk about this.
We raised these issues. We want people to talk about these things and think about them. There’s definitely a sense that Kiri is definitely deeply connected to Ava, as is Grace.
James Cameron has been working on a sequel to his record-breaking blockbuster for over a decade. The studio has announced four Avatar sequels, two of which have already been filmed, so it’s obvious that RiRi will only be fully revealed in the future.
Avatar: The Path of Water will be released on December 16, 2022, and Avatar 3 will be released two years later on December 20, 2024.
